Thanks to House Flipper 2's improved tools, I'm finding this cycle more satisfying than ever. It’s a nice addition, but after spending some time with it I found I didn’t enjoy actually having to figure out whole floor plans as much as I did messing with ones that were already there. The community is going to build some crazy stuff with it, though, so I look forward to leaving it alone and lazily admiring the Palace of Versailles as rebuilt in House Flipper 2 by a 47-year-old woman from Iowa. Let’s not beat around the bush – if you didn’t get on with the first House Flipper, failing to understand the beauty of cleaning up a place, rebuilding it into a palace, then House Flipper 2 is not going to be for you. The stories behind the quests are charming enough, and some include genuinely amusing pop culture references. The expansions to the in-game decor store are impressive, and I have a particular soft spot for including accessibility and mobility aids. I would find myself sitting down to do one quick quest, and then, before I knew it, an entire evening would be lost, flipping houses. Empyrean has earned my loyalty in the past with tons of community-driven improvements and DLC that expands the base game in a very compelling way. I have no doubt in my mind that this is yet another game that the development team will quietly build upon for years to come, ensuring that I will always return to Pinnacove. Despite having an enhanced set of tools, I still found myself struggling with designing and decorating in certain ways.

My time with House Flipper 2 was relatively bug and glitch-free, though some moments had visual quirks.
The biggest problem I had was with how items interact with each other; moving items as a set is sometimes persnickety, and putting items inside of other items is nearly impossible. It would be great if I could have a bowl full of hand-picked fruit in a kitchen, or maybe even individually select items to move as a unit without them being set on a surface. However, much of this seems to be resource limitations of a smaller development team, and will hopefully be added in the future. Regardless of which mode you choose to play in, the game will present all of its visuals with high-quality 3D graphics that allow you to feel as if you’ve stepped foot into each house in person. The game takes place in a first-person perspective so that you can better visualize where to place a furniture piece or get a better look at every angle of the room as you decorate.
The houses look like they've been lived in, justifying the mess with more context than a mere preamble. Sometimes the owner talks to you and even lets you interact with them through the call. Each room feels like a personalized haven rather than a showroom piece that got stormed over by an overzealous house hunter. Another improvement that House Flipper 2 had over the first game is its gameplay.
Why are so many people finding satisfaction in simulation games about manual labor? Farming, building, power washing - there’s some deep psychological study to be done on creating the illusion of productivity, but I couldn’t care less. All I know is that if I can’t make sure this garage extension has perfect ebony paneling, I will have brought shame to the good name of my ancestors. House Flipper 2 has reawakened my dormant obsession with wallpaper and trash collection, building on the success of the first cult game with a new coat of paint and some noticeable gameplay improvements.
